FRIENDS
UPDATE
1000 Friends bids farewell to Receptionist
Kim Ingram. Her friendly voice answered the phones at 1000 Friends for
the last two-and-a-half years. She has accepted a position at the Florida
Department of Health. Please join us in wishing her well in her new
endeavor.
1000 Friends welcomes two Planning Interns.
Both are second-year graduate students at Florida State University's
Department of Urban and Regional Planning. June Farrell is assisting
with 1000 Friends' Eco-Tourism Study, being conducted in cooperation
with AAA. Anthony LaColla's time is devoted to updating our web site,
and assisting with projects associated with changes to Florida's growth
management act.
On a sad note, we report the death of
Eugenia Noel, recipient of 1000 Friends' 1999 Community Steward/Hometown
Hero Award. For many years she pursued her passionate interest in community
and planning issues in Palm Coast, Flagler County, through her leadership
in such groups as the Hammock Civic Association, Scenic A-1-A PRIDE,
Visions 2020, and the Florida Agriculture Museum. As Al Hadeed noted
in nominating her, "What is otherwise remarkable about Ms. Noel is that
she has never been appointed by any government to any committee and
has never sought such an appointment. She has worked exclusively in
a volunteer capacity with citizen-organized efforts." We extend our
sincere condolences to her family, friends, and community.
