The Commission's Recommendations

As Florida continues to grow and change, the importance of coordinating and balancing programs that protect the environment and guide development becomes increasingly evident. Creating a statewide system of greenways for Florida is one way to integrate our natural and human environments into a statewide system of natural areas, open space, trails, cultural and historical resources and greenways for wildlife and people. The system's evolution should be guided by the following overriding goals.

The following information about the Commissions goals and recommended strategies is in summary form. For a complete discussion of goals. strategies and recommended actions, please refer to the Florida Greenways Commission Report to the Governor.
